UConn’s Bob Diaco: We need to get Arkeel Newsome the ball

(WTNH)–The UConn football team has lost two straight games, and if they want to snap the skid this weekend, they should probably find a way to get the ball to running back Arkeel Newsome.

The former Ansonia star scored a touchdown against Syracuse two weeks ago, but has been relatively quiet for the most part.

Against Houston, he carried the ball just six times. That’s not enough for head coach Bob Diaco.

“For Arkeel to have six touches, to me, just can’t happen,” Diaco said. “It can’t happen. I don’t feel like I’m compromising state secrets. I mean, I dont know what play he has that will be electric, but if it’s on 13 we better give it to him 12 times to see what 13 looks like you know. He’s just that kind of player.”
