(WTNH)–Doesn’t it seem like every year, Ansonia has another great running back?
The next in a long line of talented Chargers backs has a familiar name–Dobbs. Markell Dobbs is following in his brother Montrell’s footsteps.
He scored a couple of touchdowns on Thursday night in the Chargers’ 44-8 win over Kennedy, and he’s one of the most elusive backs in the Naugatuck Valley League.
He says he knows he has a lot of pressure to keep up the backfield tradition in Ansonia, but he likes to keep it simple.
“I trust my linemen,” Dobbs said. “They open the holes for me and I’m able to run through them. After that, I just see green and I don’t look back.”
“Being a tailback at Ansonia, there’s pressure even if his last name wasn’t Dobbs,” said head coach Tom Brockett. “I think pressure, if you work hard and do your best, pressure takes care of itself.”
Ansonia moved to 5-0 with the win over Kennedy on Thursday. The Chargers will once again be a force to be reckoned with in Class S.
