Linebacker Vontae Diggs went from living in a car to playing at UConn

(WTNH)–Not many people have walked in UConn linebacker Vontae Diggs’ shoes. At one point in his life, Diggs was homeless, living in a car with his mom and brother outside of Chicago.

A family in the area took Diggs in sometime around his freshman year of high school. He credits them with getting him on the right track.

Diggs said he didn’t go to school much, and fought a lot. He never really thought of college. But eventually, he put it all together to get a D-1 scholarship to play at UConn.

The junior says he stays as close as possible to his mom and brother, and says they went through a lot.
