Sound Tigers coach says it won’t be long until former Quinnipiac star Devon Toews is in the NHL

(WTNH)–On Thursday night, the NHL season will begin for the Bruins, Rangers and Islanders. The two New York teams will face off against each other.

It probably won’t be long before former Quinnipiac star Devon Toews is in the Isles’ lineup. For now though, he’s sharpening his skills with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The talented young defenseman just recently joined the Sound Tigers, after the Islanders gave him a long look during training camp.

“My goal is to get better every single day, whether that’s practice, games, even days off,” Toews said. “I just have to keep myself healthy and work hard, and hopefully make strides throughout the year.”

“There’s a little bit of a learning curve coming from college to pro hockey, and he’s on the right path right now,” said Sound Tigers head coach Brent Thompson. “Hopefully in a year or two, or hopefully less, he’ll be in the NHL.”
