(WTNH)–We can guarantee you this: Go to a Sheehan High School football game, and you’ll hear the name Zach Davis.
The senior is fast and shifty, and he owns the school’s career rushing yards record too.
“Explosive, definitely explosive.”
“He’s elusive, he’s a tough, strong kid.”
“A ball of explosion just get him the ball, because you never know when it’s going to be.”
But you know it’ll be often. Head coach John Ferrazzi says he had a good feeling about Davis when he was just a skinny freshman.
“We put him on our best recevier in practice one day and he did a great job doing it, and it set the lightbulb off saying hmmm this kid might be something in the future,” Ferrazzi said.
Something hard to tackle, gameplan for, and catch up with.
“We’ve had kids with some speed, but never this fast. He has track speed and we’ve never had someone like that.
“I was definitely born with it. I have to thank my parents for that,” Davis said. “But I added to it. I ran track sophomore and junior year and I look to run track again senior year.”
His mom was a gymnast and his father a multi sport athlete. He says he gets his firey attitude from his mother, too.
“If you knew my mom, you’d know what I’m talking about. She’s crazy. It defnitely came from her.”
He has a tattoo on his arm, TD, but it’s not for touchdown. It’s for his mom Tammy Davis.
“She just taught me to work as hard as possible, and the rest will be taken care of,” he said. “If you work as hard as you can, you’ll go places.”
