HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Hosting their first home conference playoff game in program history, the Quinnipiac Bobcats made a huge statement with a 3-0 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins in the MAAC Quarterfinals. Quinnipiac, the fourth seed in the tournament, advances to the MAAC Semifinals on Friday, November 4th.

The Bobcats would get on the board 25 minutes into the game when Kelly Caruso took advantage of a free kick and blasted a rocket from 20 yards out into the top left corner of the net. Caruso wasn’t done for the Quinnipiac offense, as just minutes into the second half, she passed the ball through the box to Al Pelletier who was able to sneak the ball inside the outside post to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Quinnipiac’s leading scorer, Nadya Gill, put the icing on the cake as she deflected Jess Fontaine’s pass in for her ninth goal of the season.

The win was the first postseason win for the program since 2000, when Quinnipiac defeated Monmouth 4-0 in the Northeast Conference Championship game.
