Waterford pizza shop’s hat featured in dugout at World Series

CHICAGO (WTNH) — A Waterford pizza shop is getting some welcomed attention after one of its hats made into the World Series.

The owner of Crown Pizza, Taso Vitsas, is friends with Cleveland’s Rajai Davis who is a native of New London, and loves the taco pizza at the Waterford shop. Davis got Vitsas tickets to game four of the series in Chicago and while there, Vitsas asked him to put the hat in the dugout. It turns out it was in a pretty good spot and ended up on television.

“The best part of it is how he placed the hat. Me being a guy I just throw stuff. He placed it nice and neat folded towel underneath and he just… Andrew Miller just happened to sit next to it and I just couldn’t be more happy,” said Vitsas.

He says the exposure has been great for business. Monday night, there was a line out the door of the restaurant, and Tuesday, they were making 130 grinders for lunch.

By the way, those hats are all sold out.

Editor’s Note: The video above says Game 4 was played in Cleveland. It was actually played in Chicago.
