(WTNH)–Maybe the third time will be the charm for the Yale football team. This week, the Bulldogs will have their third different starter at quarterback.
Freshman Kurt Rawlings will get the call after playing great last week off the bench against Columbia. Rawlings threw 3 touchdown passes and scrambled for 46 yards in a win against the Lions.
Yale head coach Tony Reno said Rawlings has earned this spot. He hopes he keeps it for the rest of the season.
“He’s got those intangibles that you can’t really put your finger on,” Reno said. “He makes plays when there’s not plays there. He stays within the offense, he’s very accurate, he runs well enough. I’m excited to see him grow.”
“There’s been times where I’ve just been ready to go, and just kind of tried to find patience and just work hard, control what I can control. That’s been my biggest thing,” Rawlings said.
The Bulldogs play Brown on Saturday, against another young quarterback–Branford’s TJ Linta, who is playing well.
