Yale’s Phoebe Staenz named ECAC Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — After a weekend where the Yale Women’s Ice Hockey team had two dominate home wins, the ECAC recognized Senior Phoebe Staenz as the Player of the Week.

Staenz was a key reason why the Bulldogs outscored their opponents 12-3 over the weekend at Ingalls Rink. It started Friday when Staenz scored a hat trick and finished with five points as Yale defeated RPI 7-2. For Staenz, this was the second hat trick in her career at Yale with the first one coming in a four goal performance against Providence in 2013.

The following night, in a 5-2 win over Union, she once again was the focal point of the Bulldog attack with two goals and an assist. With her strong offensive output, she has now tied for second in the nation for most points per game with 1.83.

The Bulldogs are off to their best six game start in program history going 4-1-1 as they will travel to No.5 Colgate on Friday.
