Former Quinnipiac goaltender Michael Garteig called up by Vancouver Canucks

(wtnh) — Just a few months after helping the Quinnipiac Bobcats reach the National Championship game, Michael Garteig has made it to the NHL. He was called up by the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Garteig’s professional career has gotten off to a great start, as the 25 year-old went 5-1-0 for the ECHL’s Alaska Aces while posting a .916 save percentage and 2.52 goals-against-average.

At Quinnipiac, Garteig went 78-25-16 in his career, helping the Bobcats reach three consecutive NCAA Tournaments and making it to the national championship in Tampa Bay last season.
