NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Greg Mangano ’12 has found a home to continue his professional basketball career. Al Naser in Dubai has signed Mangano, who had a strong season a year ago with Kangoeroes in Belgium where he averaged 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds.
Prior to that, Mangano played in Finland for Kauhajoen Karhu and earned Eurobasket.com second team all-league honors after averaging 16.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. He also has played in Germany and Romania. This is his fifth season as a professional.
Mangano is Yale’s all-time leader with 213 career blocked shots, which is fourth in Ivy League history. He finished his career with 735 career rebounds and 1,213 career points, both of which put him in the top 10 in school history.
Mangano, a two-time first team All-Ivy selection, led the Ivy League in rebounding and blocks as both a junior and senior.
Following his junior season, he was selected to play for Team USA at the 2011 World University Games in China.
Mangano is one of six former Bulldogs in the professional ranks, joining Brandon Sherrod ’16 (MEC Energy Roseto in Italy), Justin Sears ’16 (Giessen 46ers in Germany), Nick Victor ’16 (Gimle BBK of Norway), Javier Duren ’15 (Kaposvari of Hungary’s A League) and Armani Cotton ’15 (Leuven Bears of Belgium’s Scooore League).
