(WTNH)–On Wednesday night, high school football said goodbye to Daniel Hand of Madison’s Steve Filippone, who retired after 27 seasons at the school.
His Tigers sent him out in style with a 44-0 win over Guilford. Filippone leaves Hand with 7 state titles, and more important–lasting memories and relationships. His last game was a perfect ending to a perfect career.
“I couldn’t have imagined a night any better than this,” Filippone said. “The football was awesome, our kids played great–I knew they would, but to see all these former players, the atmosphere here, to be able to honor Larry naming the stadium after him, I can’t imagine it can get any better, it’s as good as it gets.”
Filipone has said that he may coach again at the prep level.
Erik Dobratz put a mic on the coach for his farewell game with the Tigers.
