St. Joe’s preparing for tough Hillhouse rushing attack in Class M final

(WTNH)–If you haven’t heard, high school football championships are this weekend. Hillhouse is in the final, but faces a tough test from one of the FCIAC’s best–St. Joseph of Trumbull.

The Cadets will be taking on a speedy Academics rushing attack, led by the three-headed monster of Matthew Brehon, David Harris and Shawn Ogarro.

Cadets coach Joe DellaVecchia had some interesting practice tactics to get his team ready.

“I’m probably going to have to do a lot of running the ball in practice to show them the speed, that’s the only way to get it through to them,” DellaVecchia joked. “Nah, you can’t teach speed in practice, but we’re going to have to work really hard on our lanes and cutbacks and stuff like that. That’s really the only way to prepare for them.”

Hillhouse and St. Joe’s get underway at 10:30 a.m. in West Haven. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
