(WTNH)–What a season it was for the Hillhouse high school football team. The Academics had a player shot earlier in the season and, like any inner city school, –had a few other bumps in the road along the way.
But leading the team throughout the season was the steady hand of head coach Reggie Lytle. Moments after winning his first title as a head coach, Lytle made sure his team knew what truly is important in life.
“One thing—the coaches–they didn’t give up on nobody here, don’t you guys give up on life, do not give up on life,” Lytle told his team. “We didn’t give up on you do not give up on us. Get back to grades on Monday, get back to your grades on Monday. Education comes first, football comes second. Congratulations.”
Lytle won a championship as a player with Hillhouse back in 1985. He won a championship as an assistant coach and now gets one as the team’s head coach.
